My Travel Challenge 2015
First and foremost, Happy New Year! Yeah, I’m late. Sorry about that.
I get that this isn’t really the sort of resolution you probably expect from people, and certainly seems like something that would be standard for a traveller. So why don’t I delve right into the details; this is less of a resolution and more of a challenge, as I’m sure you’ll understand! 🙂
26 Countries, 52 Weeks…
That is my goal, and I’m sharing it with you for 2 reasons. Partly so you will understand more through the next 12 months what all these seemingly random destinations and posts are about and partly because if travelling alone wasn’t enough of a reason, I’ll now be held accountable by you. I like to think that that’s a good idea.
I’ve set a few rules out for myself, the most important one being that I count any country that I visit where I leave the airport/dock/station or whatever else. Touching down for connecting flights doesn’t count. I do however, count all countries excluding England, because I kind of live here so it doesn’t count.
I don’t know which countries I’ll visit, or in which order, or how. I’m definitely open to your suggestions. My logic will probably send me around Europe, as that’s closer, and partly because of the difficult “catch” to this whole idea:
I’m a full time marketing professional, and I don’t have the luxury of working from distance.
You might be wondering how the hell I’m going to manage this. You aren’t alone, I’m in the same boat. Weekend breaks are going to be my best friend.
So now that you know what’s going on, here are the countries I’ve been to so far this year (as of January 8th):
1. Australia
2. United Arab Emirates
3.
4.
5.
6.
etc
Do you think my goal is doable? Or am I completely underestimating this challenge? I’m open to ideas for destinations, tips to get this all done and ways to plan my trips.
Let the fun begin!
